About
Hi, I’m Marielle
Born and raised in Atlanta, I am a multimedia journalist, storyteller, and aspiring entertainment news reporter. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia (UGA) in May 2018 with a Journalism degree and studies in Fashion Merchandising and Music Business.
I have wanted to be a journalist since I was tall enough to reach the computer keyboard. I followed that dream through high school in the Marist Broadcasting Club (MBC), and onto the prestigious Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
I have tackled a little bit of everything- local news, sports, and entertainment. At my high school where the athletic program has been ranked 5th best in the nation (by MaxPreps), I took it upon myself to create a sports segment, "MBC's Highlight Player of the Week,” leaving behind a legacy that lives on with weekly broadcasts. At UGA’s campus television station, Grady Newsource, my newshound skills blossomed. I wore many hats- rotating through positions in the newsroom including reporter, producer, assignments editor, news and sports anchor, weatherperson, and digital producer. There I discovered a passion for both the production and on-air sides of broadcast journalism, but I have realized that I particularly enjoy the entertainment angle of news reporting.
I have some great internship experience under my belt, including jobs at Cox Media in Atlanta, Disney-ABC Television in Los Angeles, and DTProductions in Athens, GA.
In my free time, I enjoy fashion, cooking, and playing tennis. I have a passport, and I am not afraid to use it! I have an incurable case of wanderlust and love to travel the world. If there is a story to be told, I am ready throw a backpack over my shoulder and go anywhere to tell it.
